It was released in year 2014 and the main actors of the movie are Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji, Rajkumar Rao and Boman Irani.Plot: Mithilesh (Aamir Khan) doesn't care about anything in life but his well-being and his addiction to cigarettes. His wife Naina (Rani Mukerji) tries her best to make him take up responsibilities and have a heart for someone other than himself. His son Ronak (Rajkummar Rao) wants his father to be happy and here Mithilesh is in a very difficult situation. He is the only member of his family who is not emotionally attached and carefree about his wife and son. Therefore he tries to take advantage of Naina and Ronak in every possible way in order for them to fail in life in order to make himself more happy.Soon he starts blackmailing Naina when they start planning for marriage. He tells her that if she marries him, they would not get any help from the government and he will always depend on her for money. Then he has one thought in mind that if dad will die before son then son will be. It is obvious that he is unable to accept the fact that Naina loves both her husband and son.The movie ends in a very funny way when Ronak wants to marry Aamir's daughter in law, Naina agrees but then at the last moment she changes her mind. She says that she would rather marry Ronak, for she could never do anything which would make Aamir upset with her!

The music of the film is composed by Pritam. The lyrics are penned by Kumaar, Sameer, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Dev Kohli and Sabri Khan.The film received mostly mixed to positive reviews from critics. Ahad Raza Rizvi of "Times of India" gave 4 stars and stated: "Aamir Khan has done what he does best in this movie and that’s give us a hilarious storyline! Specially in the second half we saw him breaking into his trademark ‘Ekk Deewana Tha’ monologues that we all love to watch. It is so amazing to see the ‘Lagaan’, ‘Taare Zameen Par’ Aamir in this movie." Nupur Barua of "The Times of India" wrote, "[Aamir] is comedy gold in Ekk Deewana Tha". Shubha Shetty-Saha of "Mid Day" gave 3 stars saying that the movie is "an overall entertaining film for family audiences.The movie grossed ₹7.50 crore on its opening day and ₹33.75 crore on its opening weekend. The movie grossed ₹125 crore at the box office.
